It is generally agreed that physically hard electrode's materials have higher voltage holding characteristics in vacuum. In this paper, we applied a hot isostatic pressing method (HIP) to oxygen-free-copper electrodes for high voltage gap in vacuum, because HIP treatment makes material harder. Experimental results revealed that the breakdown voltage for HIP treated oxygen-free-copper exhibited 63.1% higher than that of untreated oxygen-free copper.
