Study on the Effect of Sericin Content on Solubility of Silk Fibroin and the Properties of Silk Fibroin Membranes

In this paper silkworm cocoon was dissolved at different time by degumming agents of NaHCO_3 to obtain silk fibroins with different content of sericin. Then the silk fibroins was dissolved to get the silk fibroin membranes. The results indicated that the content of sericin had certain effect on silk solubility. As the content of sericin reduced, the dissolution speed was faster and the silk solubility was greater. The properties of the silk fibroin membranes with some sericin were much better than those degummed completely.
