Design Installation of Composite Insulators for a ± 525 kV DC Line in Norway

Statnett is reinforcing the electrical transmission grid in the southwestern part of Norway, due to a new HVDC submarine cable connection to Germany. The project consist of about 250 km of new transmission lines and voltage upgrading of 60 km of existing transmission lines, as well as several new substations. The biggest challenge is construction of the new 525 HVDC line NordLink, which is a part of the interconnection to Germany with a submarine cable. The new HVDC line is a 53 km long bipolar triplex bundle line connected to the 500 km long submarine cable.
