摘要

Overall, this study highlights the relevance of the specific microbial genetic background in the interaction with the host. As shown by the adhesion assay, the Lp strains exhibit varying adhesion abilities, but all strains are capable of close interaction with human epithelial cells. It is likely that mutation of the analysed stress genes modifies cell surface features, thereby affecting adhesion capabilities. The strain-specific induction of some human immune genes points to a direct or undirect involvement of these bacterial genes in host immunomodulation. Some Lp mutants look quite intriguing as they seem to enhance the mucosal immune barrier. Potential probiotic applications require further in vitro and in vivo analysis.
