摘要

This paper describes the adsorption of heavy metal ions (Lead and Cadmium) from aqueous solutions by marine alga Padina pavonia. Metal sorption yields were modified using different kinds of pretreatment reagents: HC1, CaC12, formaldehyde and NaOH. NaOH improved the maximum sorption capacity of the biomass. The biosorption kinetics was found to be fast, with 90% of adsorption within 30 min.
