Nanoporous carbons are promising materials as catalyst supports, separation columns, adsorbents, etc. They can strongly support to promote sustainable and ecological chemistries. Single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are one of the nanoporous carbons, because they have internal and interstitial nanospaces in case of their bundle form. Although interaction potential of interstitial pores with a molecule is pretty deep and their ads orptivities should be effective forsmall molecules [1, 2], we cannot control the interstitial porosity. We need to create new type of nanopore modification techniques for SWCNT to obtain high-performance adsorbents. In this study, we prepared SWCNT bundles modified with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) for control of interstitial nanoporosities.
