On September 8, 2004, Typhoon Songda caused serious damage to a concrete bridge on national highway faced on Japanese coast. A 159-m-long bridge section collapsed. In this research, hydraulic model tests were carried out to study the bridge damage mechanism. Safety of the truss bridge installed for temporary restoration than for the damaged I-girder bridge was also examined.
