摘要

To promote safety on coastal beaches in Japan, an artificial beach with a gravel filter layer was constructed. After stormy weather, many types of gravel were exposed; the sand beach changed into a mixed beach with sand and gravel. Beach profile changes with a filter layer are studied experimentally, and a numerical approach is proposed for the present beach. The filter layer would promote the formation of berm and reduce erosion of the shoreline. The beach profile with a filter layer may become steady based on the analysis of spatial spectrum.
