Effects of long-term feeding high concentrate diets on hepatic genes expression involved in glucose metabolism of dairy goats

Introduction:Feeding high concentrate diets for 2～4 weeks can induce subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA),and result in adverse consequences including the depression of food intake,liver abscesses,laminitis,and inflammatory response.Feeding high proportion of concentrate diet for long term will increase the risk of metabolic disease in lactating ruminants,and ultimately lead to a marked depression in milk quality.However,the mechanism behind the decrease of milk quality during this process is not clear.Present study will explore the causes of the depression of milk quality by feeding high concentrate diets to lactating animals for a long period due to the shortage of high quality forage.
