Composite Materials are the future for wing design. Multi-disciplinary working is essential to realise the potential of new Materials. Advanced analysis methods & virtual testing will play an increasingly important role in product development and evaluation. Smart selection of appropriate analysis methods during product development is essential to achieving reduced development times. Right first time design is critical. Optimisation is a multi-faceted activity where the relative importance of variables will evolve according to economic and social influences (mass, drag, cost, rate, maintainability, etc). NGCW programme is tasked with developing and providing the necessary technologies for the next generation of composite wings.
