摘要

Biological control by using epiphytic bacteria against plant pathogenshas been considered as an alternative method for disease controlling. Pantoea sp.strain 48b/90 isolated from soybean leaf (synonym: Erwinia herbicola) produceda stabile antibiotic in chemically defined medium which is active against a varietyof bacterial plant pathogens. The characteristics of this antibiotic substance arenot identical with the well-known antibiotics produced by Pantoea agglomerans.Additionally, 48/90 produced two different siderophores (the known ferrioxamineE and a non-identified catechole siderophore) and quorum sensing signal molecules.These characteristics of strain 48b/90 justify further investigation.
