Customer manufactures plastic extrusion in a wide variety of colors and textures; Existing color matching technology was: Expensive to install for this application; Manual method with operators sampling using handheld spectrometer style; instrument; Would only take measurements of a small region (approx. 2 inch circle); No easy way to average multiple measurements and have repeatability with manual sampling; Could not be setup to detect spots or stains on the product; Not very good at looking at highly contoured parts with shadows and multiple colors present.
