The purpose of this study was to determine the usefulness of Wii Fit? boards as a cost-effectivemeans of incorporating gross body movements as an indirect measure of interest. Gross bodymovement data from forty-two participants were measured while the participants read scientific texts.The findings indicated that interest and learning from text were negatively associated with both leaningback and shifting in one’s seat (correlation coefficients (r) from -.23 to -.34). These findings arediscussed in the context of embodied theories of cognition.
