Electron beam welding and surface shaping of spray formed cylinder liners from Al-Si alloys

The improvement of the properties and/or the extension of application of crankcases in a hybrid design will be supported by the use of "secondary" technologies. In connection with cast around cylinder liners made of spray formed Al alloys it will be presented results to the application of the electron beam welding to produce liner ensembles and the electron beam surface shaping of the outside contour for improvement of the contact between insert (liner) and casting (crankcase).
