In the present study, by using a high-precision dicing saw, various periodic gratings were carved on the surface of yttrium-iron-garnet (YIG) single crystal film. The mechanical process achieved the deeper structural modification in comparison with the chemical wet etching, ion-beam milling, and ion-implantation processes. Containing deep gratings, two types of magnetostaic wave filters were designed and tested. In a band-stop filter, rejection notch reached 40dB at 3GHz. A band-pass filter possessed insertion loss of 5dB and -3dB bandwidth of 150MHz. In addition, new configuration using an apodized grating was proposed.
