A New Alveolar Distraction Device to Gain Width

The new distraction system was developed to increase the width of the alveolar process. The new system is consisted of three parts, the center rod, the small trident plate with screw holes and the cylinder with screw. The features of this system are that the bone plate is small and simple so that the reattachment of the buccal periosteum may not be interfered, and the bone distraction can be performed even in small alveolar site corresponding to one or two teeth. The originally designed widening device can be the beneficial tool for the narrow alveolar ridge.
