摘要

In 2013, the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan launched the Common Reading Experience (Edington, Holmes Jr., & Reinke, 2015). This program was developed for incoming first-year engineering students with three goals in mind: 1. Students build and develop a sense of community (including a sense of belonging and engineering student identity) 2. Students broaden their thinking about the skills (both technical and non-technical) that they need to be a successful engineer in the 21st century 3. Model intellectual engagement
