By the irradiation of a laser beam to binary powder mixtures of graphite(C)/molybdenum disulfide(MoS_2) or graphite/boron nitride(BN), laser clad composite lubricant layers with high wear resistance can be formed on stainless steel substrate[1-2]. In the present study, some clad layers were formed from molybdenum disulfide, tungsten disulfide or a mixture of both; and, their wear life in air and vacuum atmospheres was examined.
