To sum up, the sulphur dioxide control technologies for coal-fired industrial boilers, especially the flue gas desulphurizing technologies have undergone a long and tortuous developing course. Up to now, The development all over the country is unbalance. Some districts have adopted manifold controlling measures, which has takn obvious effect now, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and other large cities. While other districts just begin to take actions, and the reduction of sulphur dioxide is limited. But from the view of the whole country, certain experiences have been accumulated, and considerable technologies have been stored, laying a foundation for the development of the pollution control technologies for sulphur dioxide. Especially the experiences of some typical cities will have strong demonstrating effect for districts all over the country. The complete unfolding of the flue gas desulphurization is still at the initial stage. The crux of the matter lies in the national technological and economic policies, economic strength of the enterprises and relevant laws and regulations. Since sulphur dioxide pollution is caused by coal burning, then if coals can be replaced by clean energies, the source of sulphur dioxide pollution can be removed at all. If it is restricted by the condition that coals can't be replaced by the clean energy, it would be best to use the low pollution fuels such as low sulphur coals and washed coals. If above-mentioned measures can't be carried out, desulphurization shall be done. The flue gas desulphurization is the most effective technology to reduce the discharge of sulphur dioxide by present. For industrial boilers, the flue gas desulphurization shall be focused on the large and middle scale industrial boilers with capacity more than 14MW.
