Hazardous waste landfill design and construction practices in Turkey

摘要

Hazardous waste control regulations were enacted in 1995 in Turkey requiring controlled collection storage transport and disposal practices of wastes characterized as hazardous in nature. Permissible disposal practices include the use of specially designed and constructed landfills. Design and construction practices implemented in the first and presently single hazardous waste landfill facility in Turkey is discussed including quality control measures followed during the construction. The best practice approach was used in the process since legal regulations are not presently supported with technical guidelines.
