This short communication presents a novel approach for investigating the synergistic effect of corrosion inhibitors on copper surface. Dual poloarization interferometry (DPI) provides an in-situ measurement on monitoring the variations of mass thickness and density with time during the adsorption process of corrosion inhibitors on copper surface. The results showed that the equilibrium adsorption amount, Q_(e,exp), and adsorption rate constant, k, were remarkably influenced by BTA concentration. The synergism between BTA and mercaptoethanol increased the Q_(e,exp) and k substantially.
