Method to Control Complex Grinding Operations Covering Process Control, Resetting and Maintenance

摘要

Flexible manufacturing concepts in precision grinding machines requires new methods in the interaction between the operator and the machine. High volume large batch production is to a large extent based on the process being optimised under a rather long period of time. The method described in this paper is useable for flexible small lot manufacturing with frequent resetting of the machine. The work piece should be within the same "family" i.e. basic geometry should be the same for all the products. The method or working principle is developed at Lidkoping Machine Tools. It is implemented in the Lidkoping proprietary control system MTC but the principle is general and could be implemented in any control system as long as it has the required functionality. The method has shown to give fast and accurate resetting with a predictable resetting time also operator interactions to improve the process is faster and more reliable.
