The Electrochemical Formation of Aryl Radicals.Their Solution and Surface Reactions

The electrochemical reduction of aryl halides,sulfides,ethers leads to the formation of an aryl radical either directly (electron transfer and bond breaking are concerted) or through a radical anion.This radical anion is more easily reduced than the starting material.Therefore,as soon as this radical is produced,it can be reduced to the corresponding anion.
