Composite Leaf Spring Axle for Passenger Cars-Glass-Fiber-Reinforced

In recent years, the trend of reducing weight in passenger cars has led to a combination of two approaches: materials substitution and lightweight design. The advantages of this combination are demonstrated by an advanced engineering project of ZF Friedrichshafen AG that developed an axle concept that is centered around a wheel-guiding transverse leaf spring made of fiber composite material. The alternative material facilitates highly integrated axle designs.
