On-board measurement of vehicle travel activity and exhaust emissions Effects of travel activity and road type in urban area on fuel economy and NO{sub}x emission

The influence of vehicle activity and road type to the fuel economy and NO{sub}x emission was analyzed from the data which is obtained in the urban and suburb road and metropolitan highway using on-board emission measurement system. The influence of the macroscopic vehicle activity on the NO{sub}x and C0{sub}2 emission were analyzed. The contribution of the acceleration mode on the emission in the urban road, occupies approximately the 50% of total emissions. In addition, also the contribution of the idling mode is large in the urban road.
