The fracture mchanism of 08VTiRe steel sheet during deep drawing process is studied. It is considered that there exist several factors which initiate cracks: (1) carbide chains in matrix and carbides in grain boundary (2) the big tensile residual stress in the sheet surface (3) impurities segregating at grain boundaries. In order to dissovle those carbides and impurities and lower the residual stress. The annealed temperature is properly raised. The sheet thus treated has both satisfactory strength and ductivity and avoids cracking.
