The concepts of accuracy and traceability are subject to a good deal of confusion. Clarifying them requires familiarity with the fundamental units of measure and the international measurement system. Pressure, which is derived from the fundamental units of mass, length and time, is an instructive example in a discussion of primary standards, accuracy and traceability.
