One growing area of metrology is in-situ calibration of field instruments in process control applications. Common process parameters include voltage, current, resistance, frequency, temperature, and pressure. To address the pressure parameter, Fluke recently completed the development of 27 accessory pressure modules for use with Documenting Process Calibrators. These pressure modules allow the instrumentation technician to perform gage, differential, absolute, compound and vacuum applications. Offered in ranges from 10 inches of water to 10,000 psi, total uncertainties approach 0.05% of full span over a one year period. Measurements are inherently temperature compensated over a range of 0°C to 50°C. One of the challenges during pressure module development was the application of process metrology to provide a NIST traceable calibration certificate and test data within a factory production environment.
