Some highlights of the development of DWDM systems and components at Siemens are presented. This includes integrated optical DWDM filters in the SiO$-2$//Si and InGaAsP/InP material systems realized as concave reflection gratings on the basis of Rowland and flat-field mountings and as optical phased arrays. An overview of the activities wavelength-switched optical networks with optical ADD/DROP multiplexers and cross connects is given.
