PROMETERUSE is a teaching project that addresses the widening gap between the fraction ofEuropean students pursuing studies in mathematics, information sciences, natural sciences andtechnology (MINT) and the growing demand for their skills in developed economies. We propose tochallenge prejudices against these disciplines by offering 14-18 year-olds hands-on involvement inacademic research. Our network of universities has designed coursework to show teenagers that, farfrom being A^, education in MINT subjects can meet some of the most practical challengesfacing their generation. As a paragon of this, the PROMETERUSE project helps students uproot andconfront the causes of climate change.
