(693) MUSIC MOVEMENT THERAPY IN PATIENTS WHO HAVE SUFFERED A STROKE

Cerebrovascular diseases are the second leading cause of death in Spain according to the SpanishSociety of Neurology (SEN). Effective and early rehabilitation is essential for the reintegration ofpatients who survive this disease. Music movement therapy is used in early stages of the rehabilitationof these patients because of their physical and psychological beneficial effects related to improving therange of joint motion, muscle strength, activities of daily living and mood state.The aim of this article is to study in deep the physical and psychological therapeutic needs of patientswith stroke in order to define the objectives and characteristics of an early music movement therapyprogram that complements their rehabilitation and supports their recovery and social reintegration.Such therapeutic needs will be known through a questionnaire that will be administered to strokepatients of the Valencia main hospitals that meet the inclusion criteria of the study.Thanks to the combination of both disciplines the results of this experience will be used to complementand enhance the practice teaching of the students of Music therapy and Physiotherapy.
