Creation and Verification of World's largest K_I-Databases for Multiple Cracks at a Countersunk and Straight-Shank Hole in a Plate subject to Tension, Bending and Pin-Loading
The paper describes the results and mathematical-numerical methods used in one multi-year collaboration between the U.S. Air Force's Academy Centre for Aircraft Structural Life Extension, CAStLE and Swedish organisations FOI and BARE developing novel numerical methods for reliable large-scale structural analysis and application of these methods for derivation of the world's largest high-accuracy databases, containing over 180 million K_i(Φ) -graphs all with a relative point wise error less than 10~(-3). The databases will be provided to the engineering community for fatigue crack growth analysis using AFGROW crack growth software or similar. Parts of the methods used in the present paper have earlier been reported at ICAF, ICAS, ASIP and ASTM-meetings [1-6] and in scientific journals [7-11].
