Hydrodynamic measurements (bubble size analysis, gas velocity and gas holdup) using the McGill sensors have been used in flotation circuits around the world for more than a decade. Typical uses range from single flotation cell troubleshooting to flotation circuit gas profiling. The present article describes the utilization of the sensors for flotation circuit benchmarking as part of a metallurgical survey conducted for a circuit expansion project. Twelve (12) mechanical flotation cells and three (3) flotation columns were studied at two different plant conditions.
