Development of Standards – A new Test Method for Reproducible and Field Relevant Testing of Water/Diesel Separators (PPT)

Summary and outlook 5.1As non of the current standards for water/diesel separation represents satisfactory the field situation, the rework of the ISO/TS 16332 has become necessary. 5.2 For the new standard, modifications on hydraulic setup, operating mode, droplet size, test fuel and assessment criteria have been made. 5.3 The reworked standard will allow to perform reproducible and comparable tests on water/diesel separators that correspond to the behavior of the separators in the field. 5.4 Summer 2012: Round robin comparison and validation test according the new standard. Participating companies: MANN+HUMMEL, Bosch, Mahle, Ufi, IFTS, Donaldson. 5.5 Presentation of the test results end of 2012 on the ISO committee meeting. 5. 6 Implementation of the new standard as ISO committee draft 2013. 5.7Closing open issues as e.g. characterization of the coalescence behavior of the water/diesel emulsion.
