Engineering Systems CAx, PDM, ERP and Still a General Solution?!

Process efficiency requires a product lifecycle accompanied and created by a network of information and communication technology. With latest engineering tools CAx, PDM and ERP systems are getting closer together in order to create the common graphical and numerical data base. While modelling parts concurrently the engineering BOM (bill of material) is under development in the CAD/PDM system. Material master and formed production BOM will be transferred to the ERP system via an standardized interface in the near future. Since numerical product and parts data are available in the ERP system, graphical data can be called from enterprise intranet with standard browsers. Development partners and suppliers can access to individual graphical data via an internet portal. For an increasing process efficiency in product development as well as in the whole lifecycle general and immediate access to all numerical and graphical data is essential. It remains a challenge to introduce and renew adequate tools and systems at the right time and to ensure the user service.
