Hybrid rocket motors have distinct advantages over both the solid rockets (being safer) and liquid rockets (being simpler). However, low regression rate is one major concern in hybrid rockets. Regression rate is controlled by heat feed back to the solid fuel from the hot reacting gases in the combustion chamber. Therefore almost all regression rate enhancement techniques are essentially concerned with increasing heat feed back to the fuel. Simulations have been done with AP mixed with HTPB ranging from 0% to 50%. A three step mechanism proposed in the literature has been utilized for the (HTPB+AP)/O_2 system. It was found that the regression rate increased with increase in AP percentage and the flame was put off when the oxidizer supply was cut off in all the formulations.
