Nanocomposite microspheres have the benefit to be used as a cell carrier in bone tissue engineering applications. Biotinylated microspheres are able to improve the cell attachment. In addition, their conjugation with avidin could result in a self-assembly system for tissue engineering applications. In this study, biotinylated nanocomposite microspheres based on nanohydroxyapatite-in-gelatin/chitosan (nHA-i-GC) were fabricated and evaluated.
