摘要

This study looked at in detail the current research into transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) and its relation to scarless healing. Experiments suggest that TGF-beta3 is associated with scarless healing whereas TGF-beta 1 and TGF-beta2 subtypes are related to scar formation. TGF-beta 1 and beta2 are found in low levels in embryonic wounds, a further clue to the mechanism of scarless healing.IntroductionExcessive scarring is associated with impairment in quality of life1. Patients with a disorder of the skin may have reduced self-confidence, increased levels of stress, reduced lower physical and psychological functioning and be subjected to stigmati-sation.
