摘要

Risk management is an emerging technology used in the assessment and prioritization of risks in oil & gas equipment. In this paper, safety assessment is implemented in a petroleum tank farm using safety check list and risk matrix method. In safety check list method, the final scores of the tank farm are given through a detail procedure and the safety grade of the tank farm is evaluated according to the final score. The problems in the tank farm safety are also pointed out in the procedure. The risk matrix method is recommended for risk assessment of a single device in the tank farm. The possibility and its consequence of petroleum leakage from devices in petroleum tank farm are quantitatively analyzed. The paper showed that the safety check list method is practical and risk matrix method is quantitative. The risk assessment can rank the risk of a single device in tank farm, therefore helping to prepare the strategy of inspection and maintenance of the device in the tank farm. The complementarities of the two methods are helpful to the safety management of the tank farm. Software is developed for the risk assessment, which can be a tool for risk management in tank farm.
