International Effort to Monitor Toy Safety Using Inexpensive Dual Use Military/Civilian Wear Sensors Incorporating DART Mass Spectral Dyes

Sensors are easily made by children. Sensors are inexpensive to make. DART MS is an inexpensive and effective method of monitoring toy safety. Older children were more successful in making toy-wear sensors. Toy-wear sensors that were 4 disks thick successfully measured wear down to 0.1 mm over a range of 0.0 to 0.4 mm. The amount of wear on sensors can be verified by looking at the color of the uppermost layer.
