Revealing Evidences for a Non-concerted Mechanism in a Aza-Diels-Alder Reaction: an Electrospray Ionization Mass spectrometry Investigation

Three-components aza-Diels-Alder reaction was successfully monitored by ESI-MS that was able to detect key intermediates like the diene (4) and adduct (5). The ESI-MS and MS/MS experiments specifically suggest a non-concerted mechanism pathway that corroborate recent results found for this reaction.
