Urinary steroids in extracts from pooled professional athletes, and individuals that have received a testosterone patch or testosterone shot were analyzed with average precisions of (delta)~(13)C and (DELTA)(delta)~(13)C measurements of +- 0.8(per thousand) (n velence 11). A T/Epi-T ratio of >9 and a (DELTA)(delta)~(13)C>5(per thousand) were measured for a T-shot sample, both fulfilling newest World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) criterion (T/EpiT>4 & (DELTA)(delta)~(13)C>4.2(per thousand)) confirming an adverse analytical finding for Testosterone use. These data show for the first time that exogenous steroid use may be detectable by GCXGC-C-IRMS without the need for extensive sample cleanup.
