Mesoporous silica chip-based serum fractionation shows selective enrichment of low-molecular-weight proteins that are analyzed by MALDI-MS. Analysis of serum samples obtained from mice treated with IL8-siRNA showed several peaks differentially expressed when compared to control, and these peak profiles could be used for monitoring disease progression and response to therapy. Peaks that are identified to be differentially regulated across multiple time points of treatment will be further characterized for its identity and understanding its relevance to treatment.
