It was possible to obtain a clear correlation of peak area ratios and concentration for the glucose standards using DART-MS. The calibration curve obtained can be used to determine the concentration of an unknown sugar. Quantitation of sugars from switchgrass is therefore possible by this analytical technique. This is augmented by the characteristic properties of DART, which is a rapid technique with little to no sample preparation. Eventually, this analytical process can be used to determine the quantity of sugars harvested from switchgrass from different harsh pretreatment methods.
