We used a 4-plex iTRAQ based proteomics approach to quantitate the temporal changes of secreted proteins during the differentiation of human preadipocytes to adipocytes. In this study, we were able to achieve the following: (1) To identifiy 1082 proteins; (2) To quantitate 86 known secreted proteins by adipocytes in the previous proteomic studies; (3) To quantitate 369 novel secreted proteins by adipocytes; (4) To show that adipocytes secrete more actively than preadipocytes.
