摘要

Modulation instability in fiber laser amplifiers and arrays is predicted to arise from coupling between signal and pump fluctuations. The phenomenon manifests itself in an axially growing disturbance in an amplifier and temporal growth in a laser. We further investigate passively phased arrays, as their erformance is particularly sensitive to the associated phase disturbances.
