Counting for the hearing loss in the elderly, air-borne sound isolation of walls, including openings, ceilings and solid-borne sound isolation of ceilings in homes for the elderly has been examined. By the suggested approach we added the statistical values of hearing loss of the old person (say 75 years old) to the spectral isolation ability of the wall. Combined transmission loss of partitions plus hearing loss of elderly curves, which are age adjusted curves are presented here for acoustic design purposes and general acoustic considerations. Standard curves that are built with and without age adjustments. Comparison of the age adjusted curves with the common curves enabled watching the significance of the difference between the two states. A comparison has been made between single leaf and double walls. Since the hearing loss of the elderly is high at the higher sonic frequencies, and is almost absent at the lower frequencies domain, we could prove the clear advantage to the single panel walls over the double walls. The same principle was adapted to ceilings/floors air- and solid-borne sounds. This analysis is very important for acoustic design of buildings for the elderly since ceilings/floors are low pass filters (they have lower resistance to transmission of low frequency sounds - a range where the sensitivity of elderly is significant).
