STEROID BISCONJUGATES: UNEARTHING HIDDEN TREASURES OF STEROID METABOLISM

Doubly or bisconjugated steroid metabolites have been known for decades and typically studied by indirect GC-MS methods. Recently, the direct detection of steroid bis(sulfates) by LC-MS has been applied to doping in sport [1] and the prenatal diagnosis of inborn errors of steroid biosynthesis [2]. Access to labelled compounds for MS would increase our understanding of these fascinating compounds.
