摘要

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has become one of the malignant tumors that have the highest incidence and mortality. Currently, there are no satisfactory screening and early detection strategies for NSCLC. One approach to early detection is to develop biomarkers, which could be detected in blood at very early stage of the disease. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI -TOF MS) can detect multiple protein changes simultaneously with high sensitivity and specificity. Based on the assumption that tumor-specific proteins can be secreted by tumor cells or released into the circulatory system by necrosis and apoptosis of these cells, we investigated whether plasma low molecular weight proteins can discriminate NSCLC patients from healthy donors.
