Five glycolipid lipids were self-assembled in aqueous dispersions into high axial ratio nanostructures. Thermal analysis was conducted on glycolipid nanotubes and the self-assembly of these species into high axial ratio nanostructures, including nanotubes, contributes to the understanding of these structures such that the rational design of these structured can become more highly resolved. Analysis of the thermal properties of the glycolipid nanotube was made using Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform (DRIFT) spectroscopy as well as Temperature Modulated Differential Scanning Calorimetry (TMDSC) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA).
